Liatris spicata
From Nearctica Identification: Flowers lavender, numerous, sessile to the stem. Each flower head with few (5-10) florets. Flower bracts few, elongate, tinged with purple, closely appressed to the flower head, sticky, and with blunt apices. Stem hairless. Leaves elongate, thin, almost grasslike. Plant 1 to 5 feet in height. Distribution: Throughout most of the
eastern United States. Habitat: Dense Blazing Star is found along the edges of marshes and in wet meadows. Flowering period: July to September.
