Houstonia longifolia
A member of the madder family
I had originally called this the narrow-leaved houstonia, but discovered from the Connecticut Botanical Society that they consider it a variation of the long-leaved houstonia. These pale lilac flowers are generally about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. They are tubular with ends flaring into four lobes. Flowers come in clumps at the ends of the many branches and sparsely bloom. Bloom time is from the spring into fall. These low plants like dry open woods and hillsides.
