Upright or Low False Bindweed

Calystegia spithamaea ssp. spithamaea

A more or less upright 6-12" plant with oval leaves that often have a heart-shaped base. The 1-4 showy 2-3" white flowers are bell-shaped and have 5 completely fused petals and 5 sepals. The flower base is clasped by a pair of broad, leaf-like bracts. Blooms May-August in dry, usually rocky soil.
