Ranunculus bulbosus
Prefers wet ground.
Flowers about 1 inch wide. The sepals fold back to lie along the stem. The only species with a bulbous base.
Stem lightly hairy. 6 to 18 inches high. Fields and roadsides. Spring and early summer.
