Stellaria pubera
The largest of the chickweeds, this plant could be found in many clumps here and there. However, there is a massive display in the Bullpasture River Gorge. The flowers are up to one inch across and the petals are longer than the sepals. The petals are deeply notched giving the impression that there are 10 petals. Actually there are only 5. The leaves are not stalked. The plant ranges from 6 to 16 inches high. March through May in woodlands.
