The upper leaves are toothed or deeply cut. The yellow flowers are very small less that one-quarter inch. The seed pods are short, plump and spread horizontally. The petals are no longer than the sepals. Plant varies from 1 to 4 feet high. Likes wet shores and damp soil. Blooms from the spring into the fall.
