Identification: Plant with plumelike flowering branches. Lower leaves elongate and lance-shaped with long petioles grasping the stem.Stem smooth, round. Plant 2 to 5 feet in height.
Distribution: Minnesota in the west to southeastern Canada, southward to Georgia.
Habitat: This species is found in bogs, swamps, and wet meadows.
Flowering period: August to September.
Similar Species: The plume-shaped flowering branches, elongate lower leaves, and the wet habitat of this species are characteristic.
