Spring Ladies' Tresses
Spiranthes vernalis
Oddly, bloom time is late July and early August, sometimes even into September in the mountains. Flowers are pale white with a yellow center on the lip which is usually open and downward curving. Dorsal sepals and lateral petals are somewhat upcurving. The plant is pubescent with sharply pointed hairs. Linear rather stiff leaves are present at bloom time.
