Yellow Ladies' Tresses
Spiranthes ochrolecua
Bloom time is September to November in the mountains. Flowers are slender with a more yellowish color that others in the genus and are oriented either horizontally or slightly upward on the stem. These characteristics separate these plants from the nodding ladies' tresses S. cernua. Plants are smooth on the lower parts but have hairs on the flowers. Basal leaves are long and narrow and present during flowering. Plants be as tall as 12 to 15 inches.
