Swamp Candles or Earth Loosestrife
Lysimachia terrestris
Leaves are with opposite, simple, on erect stems. The flowers are yellow, borne in mid-summer.
The flowers are star-shaped with five yellow petals. Each petal has two red dots at its base forming a circle of ten red dots in the center of the flower. The flowers form in a raceme about the top of the plant.
Habitat is swamps and at the edges of ponds and lakes in the Eastern United States and in Eastern Canada.
