Flowers vary from rose-purplish to pink, white, and greenish in dense spikes. A small plant with the largest noted at about 1 foot. Flowers June to October in sandy soil from Delaware to Georgia and Louisiana (along the coast) and inland from western Virginia to Ohio and Kentucky.
