Alien: Native of Europe.

Identification: A creeping, prostrate plant. Flowers yellow, with 5 petals, arising in pairs from the leaf axils on short flower stalks. Stem prostrate. Leaves round, shiny, in opposite pairs.

Distribution: Throughout eastern North America. Also occurs along the Pacific Coast.

Habitat: Moneywort is found on wet ground in disturbed areas including roadsides, ditches, and lawns.

Flowering period: July to September.
