Plant Type: This is a herbaceous plant which can reach 120cm in height (47inches).
Leaves: The leaf arrangement is opposite . Each leaf is entire and stalkless.
Flowers: The flowers are irregular in shape . They are white often with purple spots sometimes violet or pinkish. Blooms first appear in late spring and continue into early fall.
Habitat: Fields and open woods
The dried leaves and flower heads make and excellent strong tasting tea. Generally the flavor is of spearmint, but often can be as strong as peppermint - flavor can be variable. This plant does well in gardens, either grown from seed or transplanted from the wild and is not invasive because of a lack of runners.
