Identification: Flowers tubular, narrow, violet. Upper petal a concave caplike structure with two smaller, lateral petal lobes. Bottom petal lobes fused into a downward hanging, bilobed lip. Throat of flower with two lighter stripes. Corolla tube bent upwards. Flowers arranged in a series of terminal racemes (loose spikes). Stem square, minutely hair. Leaves elongate, narrow and with the outer margin untoothed. Plant 6 to 30 inches in height.
