Identification: Ray florets golden yellow, large, flower as a whole conspicuous. Seeds (achenes) wedge-shaped without a papery margin. Leaves divided into a number of weakly dentate leaflets (usually 3 to 5) with apical leaflet relatively longer than 2 leaflets basal to it. Plant 1 to 4 feet in height.
Distribution: Throughout eastern North America except for northern New England, Florida, and Louisiana.
Habitat: Crowned Beggar Ticks is usually found in wet soils.
Flowering period: July to October.
