Osmorhiza claytoni
A softly hairy, 1 _’ plant with fern-like, pinnately divided, toothed leaves. Tiny white flowers are in spreading, few-rayed compound umbels. There are from 0 to 2 bracts beneath the primary umbel, usually several very narrow bracts under each secondary umbel. Blooms May, June in woods, clearings.
Stems and root have an anise-like (licorice) flavor that often made them popular candies, especially when sugar coated.
