Coreopsis tripteris

Identification: Flowers yellow, relatively small for the genus. Ray florets not toothed. Flower stalks (peduncles) short. Leaves with three, broad leaflets, not grasslike. Plant with anise odor. Plant tall, 3 to 9 feet in height.
Distribution: Primarily a species of the Mississippi Valley region but with a wider distribution from southern Ontario throughout most of our area.
Habitat: Tall Coreopsis is found in dry woods, forest margins, ands thickets.
Flowering period: July to October.
