Plant Type: This is a herbaceous plant, it is a perennial which can reach 80cm in height (31inches). The stem is silky especially when young. Leaves: The leaves are alternate. Each leaf is entire. The stem leaves are lanceolate while those at the base are oblanceolate. Flowers: The flowers have numerous parts and are up to 2.5cm wide (1 inches). They are yellow. Blooms first appear in mid summer and continue into mid fall. The pappus in all Chrysopsis is in two rings the outer bristles scale like and the inner much longer and hair like. Habitat: Well drained, open woods. Range: From Ohio and New York south to Texas and Florida.
