Flowering period: April to August.
Similar Species: Celandine might be confused with Celandine Poppy. Celandine Poppy has larger flowers (greater than 1 inch in diameter), the seed pods are ovate and hairy, and the leaves are opposite.

Identification: Flowers yellow, about 0.75 inches in diameter, and with 4 petals. Style elongate and projecting up from the flower. Seed pods elongate and smooth, occurring is small clusters. Leaves divided into a number of distinct lobes, each lobe with its own lobes. Leaves alternate. Plant 1 to 2 feet in height.
Distribution: Across southern Canada and southward to Utah in the west and Missouri and Georgia in the east.
Habitat: This species is found on moist soils along forest edges or as a weedy in urban areas.
