Fire-on-the-Mountain or Wild Poinsettia
Euphorbia cyathophora
This is a low plant, sometimes attaining 3 feet in height, bearing leaves of a very diverse aspect. They may be ovate, fiddle shaped, or very narrow. The flowers are clustered at the tip of the stem and usually surrounded by leaves that have a red or white blotch at the base or in the lower half.
August and September in waste place, open or wooded, from Virginia to Minnesota and South Dakota and south to Florida and Texas.
