Identification: Flowers yellow, arranged in a cluster at the top of the stem. Leaves ovate, hairy, with a smooth outer margin, and found along the entire plant stem, becoming smaller from bottom to top. Some leaves near the top engulf the base of a flower branch. Stem hairy, sometimes tinged with red. Plant 1 to 5 feet in height.

Distribution: Eeastern Canada and southward through most of the eastern United States to Georgia and Oklahoma.

Habitat: Rough Hawkweed in found in forests, along the margins of forests, and clearings.

Flowering period: June to September.
